Submitting Web Links for Transcription
How to Submit Web Links for Transcription
If the content you need to be transcribed is a web link rather than an actual media file (e.g. .mov, .mp3, etc.), you can submit that directly into our Customer Portal for the transcription! This article will discuss the parameters for links we accept and will walk you through the process of submitting one of these links for transcription.
What Works
Public audio and video streaming sites work best with our weblink upload tool. For example, YouTube, Soundcloud, DailyMotion, Vimeo, and Grooveshark will all upload without issue. Some major news sites may work as well.
As a general rule, your link needs to be public. If your link requires a password or any kind of login, it will experience an error during the upload process.
Private YouTube Videos and Encrypted Sites
For private YouTube videos, we suggest changing these to be 'Unlisted', meaning that they do not require a password, but cannot be found through a search (more information can be found here). Please note, if the owner of the video has restricted who is authorized to see the video, even changing it to 'unlisted' may not work, and you may have to temporarily make the video 'public' to upload it to our portal. Additionally, highly encrypted sites (like a Video Conferencing service) are not supported by our weblink tool and will require you to download the source media file and upload to our Customer Portal for transcription.
If you have a question about whether our weblink upload tool can accept your link, please write to us at support@transcribeme.com and we will be happy to help!
